Healthy Schools Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Education Programme
Education and Life Saving Equipment for Schools
Arrhythmia Alliance (A-A) is supporting the Government’s Healthy Schools Certification by rolling out a Healthy Schools Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Education Programme. The charity has already collaborated with a number of ‘Healthy’schools who have qualified for the Healthy Schools Certification, a successful pilot run at Shipston High School has proven this programme to be vital to the education and health of the children and families of the school and within the local community. The programme supports the common aim for improved pupil achievement, whilst building on the health and well-being foundation put place in schools up and down the country.
This initiative encompasses collaborations with local ambulance services and government offices. As the only UK Heart Rhythm Charity, A-A has alliances with leading specialist medical professionals and with their help we are working together to promote better understanding, diagnosis, treatment and quality of life for individuals with cardiac arrhythmias. The term ‘arrhythmia’ relates to heart rhythm disorders, which cause 100,000 deaths each year in the UK; killing more people than lung cancer, breast cancer and AIDS combined.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest is the UK’s biggest killer and can strike anyone, at any age, without warning. The Healthy Schools programme supports the placements of life saving AEDs in schools within local communities.
The Healthy Schools AED Education Programme offers a full bespoke AED and CPR package, including:
- Educational resources
- Industry approved Mini-Anne Training kits incl. DVD
- Presentations
- Lesson plans
Our educational resources include a 'What is an AED' booklet aimed at 7-11 year olds, 'How the Heart Works' and 'How to Take Your Pulse' information sheets. Click on the links below to download your own copy.
A-A can support your school to place an AED on your premises, ensuring life saving equipment is available to all those in your community.
