Arrhythmia Studies in Populations

Serious Cardiac Arrhythmias with Medicines Symposium

This symposium will provide a broad overview of the regulatory, pharmacological and clinical concerns surrounding serious cardiac arrhythmias and medicines. Safety issues regarding potential arrhythmias (prolongation of cardiac repolarisation (prolongation of the QT interval), ventricular fibrillation, Torsades de Pointes) are important considerations for regulators and the pharmaceutical industry in the evaluation of new and established products.  It has been acknowledged that there is a requirement to widen research in this area by large population study methodologies. We propose that many important questions can be answered in the post-marketing stage by collaboration of cardiologists and drug safety experts to enrich our knowledge in this important and expanding field.

Launch of UK CASP

At this meeting we will be launching our new venture of national population studies of cardiac arrhythmias, capitalising on our already established infrastructure and arrhythmia network. We can offer the opportunity to utilise our unique experience in electrophysiology and drug safety to undertake bespoke safety studies at a population level as an important part of post-marketing Risk Management Plans.
